The Footwear Technology Center of La Rioja (CTCR) attended the Watify Matchmaking Event, held in Brussels on May 15 and co-organized by the Economic Development Agency of La Rioja (ADER). The event was attended by 121 organizations and companies from 17 different countries, all of them interested in Internet of Things technology. The event was focused on five sectors: industry, agriculture and food, wearables, packaging and smart housing. However, other sectors such as health and other topics such as data analysis and data management also had their place.
During the event, there were several conferences and presentations on various aspects of the Internet of Things (IoT) and how in the near future many physical objects (portable devices, medical devices, vehicles, machines, household objects, consumer goods, infrastructures etc.) will be connected to the cyber world through wireless communication technologies, sensors, actuators, automated learning, embedded software, real-time analysis and computing. After the conferences, there was a session of meetings between companies/organizations, as well as group meetings and round tables in which the companies were able to make new contacts and discuss some points to establish future cooperation.
Currently IoT applications already offer business opportunities and benefits for any sector of the industry, especially in production, transportation, consumer goods, energy, agriculture and health care, and are expected to be part of the daily life of anyone in anywhere and in any device, involving a wide market for numerous sectors.
