The aim of this project: the elaboration of footwear based on industrial and domestic waste materials. This project on upcycling non-harmful waste materials mainly from the Basque country is being carried out in collaboration with the sustainable fashion brand Kameleonik.

A total of 26 different waste materials of 14 different companies from the automotive, the food and the footwear sector have been used for this new shoe line. The result: an economic, environmental and technical viable new footwear collection based on eco-design principles. After the initial research and development of the first prototypes, Kameleonik has started identifying suppliers and initiated the production process. The Environment and Quality Department of the CTCR has played a key role in certifying the materials and developing the project within the framework of the circular economy projects of Ihobe, Department of the Environment and Territorial Policy of the Basque Government, and with the support of Zicla, company with expertise in recycled products.
