A remarkable innovative project from the Environment Department is Recysole. The CTCR has managed to develop the first sandals made 100% out of used tires.
Sustainable, comfortable, resistant, long-lasting and in many colors. Those are just some of the amazing properties of the new recycled flip-flops that are now being commercialized by ECOALF and were developed with the support of SIGNUS, the Spanish NGO that manages used tires. Emerging technologies were applied within this project enabling the development of flip-flops that do not contain any chemical compounds, coagulants or glues. Its secret lies within the high temperatures and pressure as a mean of melding the dust particles together. Hereby, the 100% recycled flip-flops made out of used tires contribute to the reduction of waste, converting old tires into material with new value. The CTCR is happy to contribute with projects like this one to promoting sustainable and environmental friendly measures based on up-cycling and eco-design.
